t’s the Swiss Army Knife of cigar lighters, a sturdy, masculine-looking beast that bears some resemblance to an electric shaver. The Visol Joplin Quad Torch has just about everything you need to cut, light and even hold a cigar—and it has impressive craftsmanship. It sells for $80.

The top, which flips open to reveal the lighter jets, is beveled, designed to serve as a cigar rest that can hold a considerably fat cigar. The front has a V cutter, the back, a guillotine cutter. (We call it a single-blade guillotine in the video below, but it’s actually a double-blade cutter. Only one of the blades moves.) One side has a two-disc cigar punch, the other a cigar poker that can help with a tight draw or serve as a tool to secure the nub of a smoke you just don’t want to let go. It comes in a variety of colors, but we are particularly fond of the ones that are powder coated, with a textured, industrial feel and a finish that’s more scratch resistant.

The four torches, arranged in a diamond pattern, throw an impressively large and powerful quartet of jet flames that quickly toasts your cigar. The lighter is sturdy, with considerable heft. It clocks in at a third of a pound, making it a better lighter for your desk or on the side table of your smoking room rather than your pocket.
